Mission Statement

Our mission at Kowality Golf is to inspire men, women and children of all ages by introducing them to the health benefits and life skills acquired by learning the game of golf. We aim to inspire and encourage new and seasoned players - encouraging their commitment through easy access to lessons, programs and clinics year-round to build & maintain skills.

Teaching Philosophy

We believe in teaching each individual student based on his/her individual style and experience. Our goal is to build or assess the key fundamentals of golf from the set-up through full swing, while keeping the learning process positive and fun; utilizing drills, teaching aids and simple swing thoughts, as needed.

Kathy Kowalczyk

0wner & Golf Professional

Kathy is the Owner, Director of Instruction & Head Golf Professional at Kowality Golf. Kathy grew up in the Southeast corner of Alabama and always enjoyed participating in sports. She played on her high school volleyball and basketball teams and also enjoyed running cross-country and other track events during her high school years. However, she discovered the game of golf a bit later in life and quickly developed a knack, talent and passion for it - spending as much time as possible learning, studying and playing the game. While living in Westland, Michigan she was encouraged by her local golf professional, the late Sie Willis, to further pursue golf as a profession.

In the spring of 1997, Kathy relocated to San Diego, California and enrolled in the Golf Academy of America, (known then as the San Diego Golf Academy). She graduated in the fall of 1999 with an Associate Degree in Golf Complex Operations & Management, while working at the Golf University at San Diego, located on the grounds of the four-star resort "Rancho Bernardo Inn". During her time there she had the honor and privilege of working with several PGA & LPGA Teaching Professionals. While still in California, she launched her teaching career at the "Practice Golf Center" in Menifee and worked with former PGA Tour Professional, Doug MacDonald.

Upon returning to Michigan, Kathy reestablished herself in the local golf community joining the staff of "Train with Tami" at Hickory Creek Golf Club in Superior Township. She purchased that business in 2018 and relaunched under the new name & logo of "Kowality Golf".

Some of the Class "A" PGA professionals and PGA/LPGA Tour Professionals Kathy has worked with during her career include:

  • Tami Bealert, PGA
  • Kathy (Block) Dougherty, LPGA
  • Justin Lauer, PGA
  • John Darling, PGA
  • Tom Wischmeyer, PGA
  • Doug MacDonald, PGA
